I urge you to support the call for a Parliamentary Inquiry into Sydney's CD/SE Light Rail project.

I am a supporter of light rail.  However I am alarmed that this project has been marred by poor planning decisions and governance which will see the removal of hundreds of 'Significant Trees.  This includes the majestic century old Moreton Bay and Port Jackson fig trees along Anzac Parade.

While replantings are necessary under the government's revegetation package, this is not 'like for like'. Rather insufficient weight has been given to the impact the loss of so many signficant trees will have. .

I am also alarmed that Modification 1 which was a major modification was only on exhibition for 2 weeks in the lead up to Christmas 2014, with the contract signed on the same day that the exhibition period closed.  I understand these changes were announced a couple of weeks after the approval of a new entertainment complex at Randwick Racecourse.

Further,I am concerned that the second line of moreton bay figs along Anzac Parade/Moore Park which has been earmarked for 'translocation'; may be felled and wood shipped, rather than relocated.

I urge you to support the call for a Parliamentary Inquiry.
