It's the Wrong Call

In 1867, Moore Park was bequeathed to the people of NSW.  Known as the People's Park, today the park is part of Centennial Parklands, and has national significance.

In 1867, Moore Park was bequeathed to the people of NSW.  Known as the People's Park, today the park is part of Centennial Parklands, and has national significance.

Two years ago, we witnessed the devastating loss of some of Sydney's most historic and majestic 'Anzac figs' along the edge of the park.  Yet despite the public outcry, two weeks ago we saw the felling of yet another historic fig tree overnight, one which had promised to be retained.

Sadly, the tree carnage is set to continue, with RMS plans for 'road upgrades' along Moore Park.  This will see more historic trees felled along South Dowling Street and near Anzac Parade, while endangering the longevity of the trees along Dacey Avenue.

In addition, the NSW Government is also pushing ahead with a $730 Million funding package to knock down & rebuild Sydney Football Stadium.  According to the Sydney Cricket Ground Trust recent communications this is likely to see a 'spillover' into Moore Park, thereby seeing teh loss of much needed passive recreational space.
